There's something so special about photographing weddings on the water, and this one was no exception. This was actually my third houseboat wedding, and it reminded me once again why I love them so much. This celebration was hosted through Twin Anchors Houseboats in the beautiful Albas Falls area near Sicamous - a location that feels like it's straight out of a postcard.

With only 12 guests, the day was intimate and completely relaxed. From the moment I arrived (after a scenic hour and fifteen minutes by water taxi!), I could feel how much everyone was simply enjoying the moment. There was no strict schedule, no rush - just family and friends gathered together to celebrate love in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable.

The ceremony took place on the beach, with the sound of water gently lapping at the shore and the forest as the backdrop. It was beautifully simple and heartfelt - exactly the kind of wedding where everyone feels present and connected.

As my time there was wrapping up, everyone jumped into the water for a swim! It was the perfect way to cool off and soak in the magic of the day. I loved capturing those candid moments of pure joy and spontaneity as everyone splashed and laughed together.

We even got to do a little trash-the-dress session in the water, which was such a fun way to end the celebration. Those shots of the couple embracing in the lake are some of my favorites - they really capture the adventurous spirit of the day.

Weddings like this are a reminder that there's no "right" way to get married. Whether you're on a houseboat in Sicamous with 12 of your closest people or in a big venue surrounded by hundreds, what matters most is that the day feels true to you.
